When the farm began
Mom’s good cooking technique with fresh nice ingredients, attracted visitors to fall into her home-style dishes. Although those were not delicacies from land & sea and there were also no gorgeous decorations in the place, the genuine Yilan flavor still became the most important and the most indispensable taste in the Guang Shing Farm !
The year before last year, two old-time pickle vats were found while sorting out things. A sudden whim came up letting the fermented tofu been made. After it was done, a thought about how people had eaten lots of fishes and meats nowadays that already made them dislike eating the out-of-date pickles! Surprisingly, there was a guest from Taipei, who wanted to eat the fermented tofu with porridge. Mom came back to the kitchen and dug out a small piece of fermented tofu from the pickle vat, and served to the table for the guest. Unexpectedly, the old lady was moved by it and was speechless. She kept saying that she wanted to buy and to eat it at home. Mom rejected the guest unsuccessfully, so she put 2 pieces of fermented tofu in a plastic bag and handed it to the old lady as a gift.
Unbelievably, this gift made the old lady’s son and her nephew come back to buy a lot back and forth. The next year, Mom made fermented tofu in a few of the small jars, which surprisingly were obtained the overwhelming responses. Now, the missions of these two old-time pickle vats are accomplished. They are placed in the Gan-A store (grocery) inside the farm. They have created the simple traditional taste in several generations. You are welcome to take the pickles with mom’s traditional taste and the strong genuine Yilan flavor.
